Terms of use

1. About these terms

These terms cover your use of the Fonting website, Mac app, and iPhone companion app, provided by Geoform LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Please read them before using Fonting. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.

Geoform LLC gives you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use Fonting for your own personal or business purposes, subject to these terms. Fonting and its branding belong to Geoform LLC or its licensors. Third-party software and bundled fonts remain governed by their respective licenses.

When Fonting asks you to accept these terms, select the agreement checkbox and choose “Agree and Continue” only if you agree. If you act for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it. If you do not agree, choose “Quit Fonting.” The Privacy Policy explains our practices; acknowledging it does not enable optional cloud sync or font-file backup.

2. Trial, subscriptions, and access

A verified Fonting account can start one 30-day trial of the core app without a card. The trial begins when you select Start free trial; checking your account does not start it. Scan & Cleanup and cloud storage require a paid or complimentary license during the trial. The trial ends automatically and does not charge you.

New customers can subscribe to Fonting Annual for USD $49 per year, plus any tax shown before payment. The subscription renews automatically each year until canceled. It unlocks the core app, Scan & Cleanup, and private cloud storage for the verified account used at checkout while the subscription is active. Manage or cancel renewal through your Stripe customer account (Link or Onelink, depending on your region), or contact mail@fonting.co for help. Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues through the paid period unless the subscription ends earlier for another reason. Font files already on your Mac remain there.

Existing one-time purchasers retain their non-expiring Fonting license under the terms of their purchase; they are not converted to a subscription. A single-use lifetime friend code can grant the same non-expiring features to one verified account without payment. A one-year friend code grants 12 months of complimentary access beginning when redeemed; it does not renew automatically or create a charge. The code’s stated duration applies to that grant. One Mac may be activated at a time for each account. Sign in with the same account to move access to a replacement Mac; doing so deactivates the previous Mac when it reconnects. The license is for that account and is not transferable to another person without our written agreement.

Fonting refreshes a signed access receipt while online. A previously issued receipt works offline for up to 24 hours, capped at the end of its paid or trial period; after that, licensed features need an internet connection to verify access again. After moving access, the previous Mac may continue working offline until its existing receipt expires. Your original font files remain on your Mac. A refund or payment dispute can affect access to the associated paid period, subject to applicable law. Stripe Managed Payments is the merchant of record for paid purchases and handles applicable sales tax, VAT, and GST in supported locations. Payment details are collected by Stripe, not by the Mac app.

The iPhone companion is included with an active paid or complimentary account and does not use the Mac activation slot. It accesses fonts and library details you have synced from Fonting for Mac.

3. Subscription expiry and your cloud library

If your annual subscription is not renewed, licensed app access and cloud sync stop when the paid period ends. You can still verify your account to renew or manage it. We keep your cloud library for 21 days after the paid period ends, then permanently delete its backed-up font files, collections, and library details unless you renew before deletion starts. We do not keep a separate recovery copy. Font files and library information already retained on your Mac are not automatically erased. Renewing after cloud deletion starts a new cloud library; you can sync copies you still have on your Mac again. Existing lifetime purchases and permanent complimentary licenses are exempt from this subscription-expiry schedule. One-year complimentary access follows the same retention schedule when it expires; it does not renew automatically or charge you.

We schedule reminders to your account email on days 4, 8, 12, and 16 after expiry, and a final notice on day 20. Email delivery is best effort and does not extend the 21-day retention deadline. Deletion never starts before the stated deadline; service interruptions may delay cleanup. We verify subscription and payment status before starting deletion; unavailable or unresolved payment information pauses automatic cleanup for review. Account, billing, and required transaction records remain separate from the deleted cloud library.

We may send one trial-ending reminder approximately three days before your 30-day free trial ends. You can opt out of trial reminders using the link in that email. Your trial ends without a charge unless you choose to subscribe. Essential account, billing, and cloud-deletion notices are sent separately.

4. Refunds

Refunds and other remedies are available where required by applicable law. Stripe Managed Payments may also issue a refund at its discretion within 60 days of purchase, even if our policy is more restrictive. For a billing problem or refund request, use the support link on your Stripe receipt or email mail@fonting.co from the account used at checkout. A full refund of a one-time purchase can revoke that license. A refund of a subscription payment can affect access to the associated period, subject to applicable law.

5. Your fonts and their licenses

Fonting helps you discover, collect, organize, compare, and preview fonts. Access to Fonting does not give you a license to any third-party font. You are responsible for obtaining the rights needed to download, copy, preview, convert, install, back up, share, or otherwise use each font.

A publicly available file, successful import, conversion, or enabled download button does not establish permission. A webfont license may not permit desktop, logo, app, or other uses. Free, open-source, and trial fonts also have license terms. Check the original license or contact the foundry, designer, or authorized seller when permission is unclear.

Fonts and other materials remain the property of their respective rights holders. Do not use Fonting to bypass access controls, infringe another person’s rights, or remove required notices.

Geoform LLC does not own the third-party fonts you use with Fonting and does not grant or verify a license to them. The Legal Disclaimer forms part of these terms and provides additional detail. If it conflicts with these terms, these terms control, subject to applicable law and the font’s own license.

6. Your account and library

Use an email address you control, keep verification codes private, and do not access another person’s account without permission. Creating an account does not enable cloud sync. You choose whether to sync library information and, separately, whether to back up font files.

You retain your rights in the materials you add. When you enable cloud features, you authorize us and our service providers to store, process, and transfer that content only as needed to provide those features, maintain their security, and meet legal obligations. You must have permission to upload and store the material.

7. Suggestions and third-party services

Font categories, foundry matches, names, and license information may be incomplete or incorrect. Scan & Cleanup suggestions are informational; they do not verify ownership or licensing rights. Review uncertain matches and keep independent backups before making important changes.

Fonting may link to third-party websites. Their content, availability, licenses, and terms are controlled by those providers.

8. Software and availability

Software may contain errors or change. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Geoform LLC provides Fonting “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. Keep independent backups of important fonts and library information.

Scan & Cleanup and other metadata tools may produce incorrect classifications, foundry matches, names, or labels. Review proposed changes and verify licensing information with the rights holder. These tools do not establish ownership or licensing permission.

9. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Geoform LLC and its officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use Fonting, including loss of profits, revenue, business opportunities, goodwill, or data, even if advised that such damages were possible.

You are responsible for the materials you choose to import, store, and use and for complying with their licenses. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Geoform LLC is not responsible for claims arising from your unauthorized use of third-party fonts or other materials. This does not excuse Geoform LLC from responsibility that applicable law places on it.

Nothing in these terms or the Legal Disclaimer excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Mandatory consumer rights, warranties, and remedies remain available. Any exclusion applies only to the extent enforceable where you live.

10. Stopping use and account access

You can stop using Fonting at any time, sign out, or delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your active cloud library, backed-up files, and account-linked trial or paid entitlement; fonts and library data already retained on your Mac are not automatically erased. Contact mail@fonting.co before deleting a purchased account if you need help with your license. Transaction records may be retained where required for accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

We may restrict access to online features when reasonably necessary to address misuse, a security threat, or a legal requirement. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the restriction and how to contact us about it.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Fonting changes. The version and effective date appear on this page. Material changes apply prospectively, not to earlier disputes. App releases that include revised terms ask for acceptance again and record the version and date on your Mac. We will also provide any notice or obtain any agreement required by applicable law.
